Mission: To Turn Bedtime Curiosity into Calm

Hi, I'm Josh, but you can just call me The Bedtime Scientist…

This project began on a hectic night with a simple question. My son, Max, has a wonderfully busy and curious mind that often struggles to settle down at bedtime. After we grew frustrated with audio apps full of loud ads, jarring sound effects, and unsettling AI voices, I decided to do what I think Mr. Rogers would have done.

I turned to my son and asked him, "What would actually help you feel calm and ready for sleep?"

His answer was simple: "Your voice."

That was the spark. We know from a scientific perspective that a calm, predictable human voice can signal safety to a child's nervous system, especially for neurodivergent kids. His request wasn't just for a story; it was a plea for that feeling of safety.

That is my mission: to create a quiet, trustworthy corner of the audio world for any family who needs it.

My Guiding Principle: Expeditions, Not Stories

That mission—to provide a safe, predictable, and wondrous space—led to a core belief: The truth, when presented with wonder, is more powerful and soothing than any fiction.

The Bedtime Scientist is a non-fiction podcast offering gentle, documentary-style audio journeys. We don't tell make-believe tales. We guide your child on scientific expeditions, honoring their curiosity with real facts and transforming it into a journey that quiets the mind.

This is a sensory-friendly, voice-only experience with a simple promise: no ads, no music, and no jarring sound effects. Ever.

Each episode is a gentle exploration of a real, wondrous idea, designed to turn bedtime from a battle into a moment of shared curiosity and calm. And every episode ends with the same direct message to your child:

"...I like your mind, just the way it wonders."

Thank you for being here, and for the trust you place in my voice.
